What does the app do?
This app provides users with information about what to expect if their baby is admitted to a neonatal unit, NICU or special care unit. It contains information on routine checks and tests, feeding, equipment, common diseases and medication. It also has information about what you can expect when your baby is born prematurely (before the due date), advice for dads and what is needed when your baby goes home. You can also read stories of other parent’s experience and journey with their baby in the neonatal unit.

Comment: The app provides a reliable source of information about what you can expect when your baby is admitted or going to be admitted to a neonatal unit, including real life stories written by other parents. It also provides an opportunity to write and store journals and photos of your baby and share that with your family and friends. Very useful for parents and families of babies admitted to a neonatal unit and health professionals supporting these families or wanting to gain more knowledge in this area.
Currently there is unit-specific information about the neonatal units in Palmerston North, Middlemore Hospital and Counties Manukau, but much of the information provided about these units would also be relevant elsewhere.
